Key Points
- The extension only touches page content when you invoke a tool on that page
- Settings, saved colours, and history live in your browser's extension storage
- No analytics, no telemetry, and no page data leaves your browser unless you choose an action that sends it
- We do not sell, rent, or share any data — there is nothing to sell
- Three permissions are optional and only requested when you enable the feature that needs them
1. Scope
+This policy covers the Auric Artisan browser extension — the colour, accessibility and developer toolkit distributed for Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge) and Firefox. Use of the auricartisan.com website is covered separately by our Privacy Policy.
2. What the Extension Accesses
+- Page content, only on your action — The eyedropper, contrast and accessibility audits, vision-deficiency filters, element inspector, and palette extraction read the page you invoke them on, at the moment you invoke them. The extension does not scan pages in the background.
- Settings and library, in browser storage — Your preferences, saved colours, palettes, and history are kept in the browser's local extension storage on your device.
- Optional site account sync — If you explicitly connect the extension to an Auric Artisan account in the future, only the data you choose to sync (such as saved palettes) would be sent to your account. No account is required, and nothing syncs by default.
3. What the Extension Never Does
+- No analytics or telemetry — The extension contains no tracking, usage measurement, or error reporting.
- No remote transmission of page data — Everything — colour math, audits, simulations — is computed locally in your browser. Page content, URLs, screenshots, and audit results never leave your device unless you choose an action that opens another site, such as searching selected text or translating a page.
- No sale or sharing of data — We do not sell, rent, trade, or disclose any data to anyone. The extension collects nothing to sell.
4. Permissions
+Required permissions: host access (run tools on the page you invoke them on), activeTab (reach the current tab when you use the popup, a shortcut or a menu item), scripting (inject the tool script when needed), storage (your settings and library), clipboardWrite (copy colour values and snippets), contextMenus (tool shortcuts in the right-click menu), and sidePanel on Chromium browsers (dock the workspace).
Optional permissions — clipboardRead (Paste in the custom menu), downloads (Save As from the menu), and sessions (reopen a closed tab) — are requested only when you enable the custom context menu, and the browser lets you decline or revoke them at any time.
5. Storage and Deletion
+All extension data lives in your browser's local extension storage. You can clear the colour library and history from the extension's settings at any time, and uninstalling the extension removes everything it stored.
6. Changes to This Policy
+If a future version of the extension changes what it accesses or stores, this policy will be updated before or alongside that release, and material changes will be noted in the store listing changelog.
