Display P3
About Display P3
Display P3 uses the DCI-P3 primaries with the D65 white and the sRGB transfer curve, and holds more greens and reds than sRGB. Apple devices and most recent phones show it, and CSS reads it as color(display-p3 …).
How this page writes it
- An sRGB color is converted through linear light and XYZ, so its P3 numbers are a little smaller than its sRGB ones.
- Written to five decimal places and kept exact, even outside 0 to 1.
Watch for
- A P3 color outside sRGB has no exact hex: the hex shown is mapped in, keeping lightness and hue.
- An sRGB screen maps a P3 color too, so judge wide colors on a wide-gamut screen.
